Tele-Nicer-Slicer-Dicer: A New Tool for the Visualization of Large Volumetric Data
نویسنده
چکیده
Tele-Nicer-Slicer-Dicer (TNSD) is a new tool for interactive visualization of large, rectilinear volumetric data. In addition to single volumes, TNSD can also process time series and multivariate data. TNSD is based on a client-server design where the client runs on one's local workstation and the server runs on the remote system where the data reside, typically a highperformance computer. The client side of TNSD features the ability to generate volume rendered or isosurface representations of data or a combination of the two techniques. The client makes heavy use of the graphics hardware of one's local workstation, in particular the transparency blending capability, to generate and animate images at relatively interactive rates. The prototype TNSD server satis es requests for data in les local to the server. In order to handle the larger data sets and to achieve a better balance in processing responsibilities between server and client, we have augmented the server with functions useful for preparing data for visualization. Current functionality includes operators for extracting a subvolume from a larger volume, resampling a volume at a lower resolution and computing derived values from multivariate data such as vector magnitude and curl.

Nicer-Slicer-Dicer: An Interactive Volume Visualization Tool
Nicer-Slicer-Dicer (NSD) is a new, interactive tool for volume visualization. In addition to single scalar volumes, NSD can visualize multivariate and time series data. NSD achieves high rendering rates by compositing slice planes back-to-front while blending pixels through the use of alpha bu ering hardware. This technique introduces some small artifacts, but it works remarkably well with larg...
متن کاملA new approach for data visualization problem
Data visualization is the process of transforming data, information, and knowledge into visual form, making use of humans’ natural visual capabilities which reveals relationships in data sets that are not evident from the raw data, by using mathematical techniques to reduce the number of dimensions in the data set while preserving the relevant inherent properties. In this paper, we formulated d...
متن کاملA Hybrid Method for Segmentation and Visualization of Teeth in Multi-Slice CT scan Images
Introduction: Various computer assisted medical procedures such as dental implant, orthodontic planning, face, jaw and cosmetic surgeries require automatic quantification and volumetric visualization of teeth. In this regard, segmentation is a major step. Material and Methods: In this paper, inspired by our previous experiences and considering the anatomical knowledge of teeth and jaws, we prop...
متن کاملA Tool for Volumetric Visualization and Sonification of Head- Related Transfer Functions (HRTF’s)
This letter documents the design and implementation of a tool which facilitates a new method of visualizing and sonifying Head-Related Transfer Function (HRTF) data sets. HRTF’s are empirically measured digital filters used in binaural spatialized audio systems which simulate the direction-dependant acoustic filtering properties of the human external ear. Because HRTF data sets are often report...
متن کاملInterface Design and Control Strategies for a Robot Assisted Ultrasonic Examination System
This paper presents a new robotic system designed to assist sonographers in performing ultrasound examinations by addressing common limitations of sonography, namely the physical fatigue that can result from performing the examination, and the difficulty in interpreting ultrasound data. The proposed system comprises a robot manipulator that operates the transducer, and an integrated user interf...
